As 2025 comes to an end, Solutions for Wildlife (SO WILD) reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable wildlife management in the Yangambi landscape, working closely with local communities.

In 2026, SO WILD will focus on six key areas :

1. Strengthening local wildlife governance, through the establishment and support of Local Development Committees (CLDs);

2. Consolidating wildlife monitoring and management, particularly through the use of technological tools (camera traps, SongMeters and eDNA) ;

3. Implementing sustainable economic alternatives to hunting and bushmeat trade;

4. Promoting behavior change and environmental education, via Zamba Clubs, community theatre, radio shows, and awareness campaigns focused on emblematic species such as chimpanzees, pangolins, and forest buffalo;

5. Integrating a One Health approach in the bushmeat value chain;

6. Assessing the feasibility of innovative financing mechanisms to support biodiversity conservation and restoration in the landscape.

All activities are carried out in respect of local community rights, including Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC).

We sincerely thank our technical and financial partners:

The European Union, CIFOR-ICRAF, FAO, INERA-Yangambi, and the local communities of the Yangambi landscape, for their essential support in implementing our program.
